DIY paper frog craft: simple technology for making a frog, a master class on working with paper + photo

The quarantine period is a difficult time. People minimize shopping for their own health and the health of others.

Therefore, the authors tried to find such ideas for making paper animals, so that every child can make them himself, picking up the materials that are in the house.

Paper frog

There are several options for DIY frog crafts. Two of them are described here - one is easier to assemble, the other is more difficult.

Frog number 1 doesn't look very much like a frog, but it jumps. When there are several of them, you can organize pretty cool competitions.

What you need:

  • Only the leaf is green. If not, you can make it yourself.
  • Take a regular sheet of A4 paper and paint.
  • After a few minutes, you will have what you need (not counting the drying time, of course).
  • To make the game more varied, you can create green from blue and yellow.
  • By mixing these two colors, it is easy to choose the shade of interest and its intensity. Great fun guaranteed.

So, we make a paper frog using the origami technique step by step:

  1. The sheet should be square. Cut out a small square (about 23 x 23 cm) from A4 sheet and start folding. The pattern belongs to traditional origami and comes from the times when children had to invent entertainment for themselves.
  2. Fold the sheet in half, open and fold in the opposite direction.
  3. Open and bend all corners inward.
  4. Rotate the paper 45 °. Bend the side tops inward so that the edges go along the midline. Then bend the bottom corner upward, forming a triangle.
  5. Bend the bottom corners to the center line. Then the lower part upwards - to where the side wings intersect with the fold (earlier the envelope flap was on the lower one).
  6. Fold the valve made in the previous step in half, bending downward towards you.
  7. Bend the top vertex towards you to create a head.
  8. Click from behind and watch her jump. By the way, little toads jump better than big ones.

Craft ideas

Frog number 2 is prettier, but harder to assemble. How to make such a frog craft:

  1. Cut out a square sheet as in option 1. Paint with green paint on one side. Fold in half with white side inward. Fold at the top.
  2. Fold in half from right to left again.
  3. Bend the upper left corner of this right side of the sheet down, smooth the fold well with your fingers.
  4. Return the bent triangle to its original position, open it, smooth out the middle fold with your hand.
  5. While holding the left fold, move the triangle to the right. A photo of a frog craft will help you better understand this action.
  6. Rotate the shape and do the same on the other side.
  7. In the resulting triangle, wrap the bottom corners in the middle so that the small triangle (legs) protrude.
  8. Turn the product over to the other side and bend the bottom corners towards the center without joining them (leave a gap of the same shape).
  9. Bend the ends of the second pair of legs up.
  10. Bend the top corner to create the head towards you.
  11. Bend the side corners of the upper legs.
  12. Draw or glue the eyes.
  13. It is easy to bend the frog in the center to become convex.

Funny frog that opens its mouth

  1. Fold a square sheet folded into a rectangle (edge up) in half.
  2. Fold the top corners of the rectangle to the vertical fold.
  3. Bend the remaining strips at the bottom on both sides like a boat.
  4. Bend small triangles outward on the "sides" of the boat.
  5. Open the product from below, making it flat so that these triangles are in front and behind.
  6. Bend the corners with small triangles upward.
  7. Pull the vertical folds to form a rhombus.
  8. Fold this diamond along the fold in half and thread your fingers into the pockets.
  9. Draw the eyes.
  10. Pulling the frog's face with an open mouth in different directions, like an accordion, you can imitate a talking and funny singing amphibian.

Plasticine frog

Plasticine toad can please children. How to make a plasticine frog:

  1. Prepare plasticine green (most), yellow, red, black and white (minimum).
  2. Prepare the largest ball for the main body of green material, flatten it slightly.
  3. On the front, in the center, attach a yellow plasticine abdomen.
  4. Roll an oval for the cheeks 2 times less than the body. Attach horizontally.
  5. In the lower part, mark a smiling mouth in red, having previously deepened the place with a stack. For the nose, 2 small green balls will work.
  6. For the eyes, make 2 small balls, attach to the upper part of the face. Stick the proteins and pupils inside, respectively, with white and black plasticine.
  7. Roll out two "sausages" for the hind legs. Bend them into oval arcs, attach on the sides of the body.
  8. Flatten two peas and place in the front lower part, connecting with the hind legs. Cut out the toes. "Kvakushka" is ready.

Princess Frog

You can also dream up by making the frog princess's craft. To do this, create a water surface, water lilies and reeds from blue plasticine.

The "princess" will sit on a leaf of a water lily. It is better to fix the "lake" on a board made of cardboard.

  1. It will have an arrow in its legs made of brown and white material. You can use a toothpick for the arrow.
  2. And on the head, of course, it is necessary to hoist a golden crown. It is easy to make it from a piece of yellow plasticine, rolling it out like a cake.
  3. Then cut the corners in a stack. The basis will be the ball on which the crown is wrapped.
  4. This is where a toothpick comes in handy again to put the crown on the frog's head. You can arrange multi-colored inserts around the perimeter in the form of precious stones.

If you want to continue the tale, you will need a prince! It's a shame for such a beauty to be alone.

Of all the paper crafts, the frog takes a special place. This is a funny friend of every child, motivating for inventions. Each time the child will give the paper toad a new role - a bouncing girl, a cheerful singer, a talkative "smart guy", etc.

Making a toy with your own hands is a unique practical skill, one of the new stages in understanding the art of origami.

The lesson develops hand-eye coordination, improves dexterity, stimulates the imagination and teaches concentration. This is a great idea for entertaining kids who love to create. Little artists will surely be proud of their masterpieces.
