The new 2023-2024 academic year is just around the corner, which means it's time for librarians to draw up a literary calendar for the upcoming period. The document will help in the future to quickly select the optimal topic for exhibitions, literary evenings, as well as other events held on the basis of the library.
Compilation guidelines
There are no strict rules governing the content of this document, but experienced librarians recommend adding the following basic information to the calendar:
- decade theme;
- themes for 2023 and 2024 (according to different versions);
- memorable dates;
- important international dates;
- anniversaries of writers;
- anniversaries of literary works;
- birthdays of literary characters.
Themes and important dates
School libraries in the upcoming academic year can plan events dedicated to two current decades:
- Decade of Childhood announced from 2018 to 2027;
- from 2022 to 2031 - "Decade of Science and Technology" .
In addition, in the period from September to December 2023, it is worth remembering the topics that the period was devoted to - "Teacher and Mentor" , as well as "Peace and Creation" .
In 2024, the list of topics is even wider:
- in they propose to hold the “Year of Museums”, as well as the “Year of Fr. Baikal" or "The Year of the Engineer" ;
- in the CIS, the period will be devoted to the volunteer movement;
- according to the decision of the UN, the year will be dedicated to camelids.
Also, do not forget about the 8 main dates approved as all-Russian holidays and giving additional days off.
An integral part of the librarian's calendar is Children's and Youth Book Week, which will be held from 03/25/24 to 03/31/24.
Days of military glory
As of the beginning of the 2023-2024 academic year, the Federal Law "On the Days of Military Glory" established 16 memorable dates that should be included in the annual literary calendar:
