The penguin craft is a wonderful decoration for an interior or garden plot. You can make a product yourself from scrap materials. The activity is quite exciting, so it is worth involving children in the process in order to have a pleasant time with the family.
The craft is also suitable for kindergarten or school as homework. You can make a do-it-yourself penguin craft from different materials - paper, plastic bottles, fabric, plasticine and others.
From plastic bottles
To make a toy, you need the following materials:
- Plastic bottles with a volume of 330 ml or 500 ml;
- Paints (white, black, yellow, red) and brushes;
- Primer;
- Glue, preferably rubber;
- Colorless varnish.
Manufacturing procedure:
- Remove stickers from bottles.
- Cut the bottom off one bottle. On the other hand, you need to cut off the neck so that about 2/3 of the size remains.
- Lubricate the edge of one of the blanks with glue, and connect them.
- Treat the workpiece with a primer mixture.
- After the primer has dried, apply white acrylic paint and wait until it is completely dry.
- On one side of the blank, draw the outline of the penguin's abdomen. To make the line straight, it is advisable to use a penguin craft template. It can be downloaded and printed, or cut from children's magazines. It is better to draw a contour with a black marker.
- Paint the rest of the bottle black except for the belly. It is recommended to use black acrylic paint, but you can do it with a marker.
- Draw the legs, beak and eyes of the penguin. It is better to use a thin brush for this work.
On this, the craft is almost ready. To complete the look, you can add a red hat. It could even be a small piece of cloth or an air freshener canister cap. If the color does not match, the part can be repainted.
From colored paper
Making a penguin out of paper is the easiest thing to do, even a child can cope with this task on his own. For manufacturing you will need:
- Thick colored paper (for applications);
- Paints and brushes;
- PVA glue;
- Scissors.
Instructions:
- Draw an even circle on a whole piece of black paper. You can use a pair of compasses or a plate to keep the line perfectly straight.
- Cut the circle into 2 equal pieces.
- Cut eyes out of white paper. Observe the proportions, if the body is small, the eyes should be appropriate.
- Cut out an oval apron breast and a triangular beak. Orange paper is used to make the beak, the breasts are white.
- Roll half of the black piece into a cone and connect the edges with PVA glue.
- Glue the beak, eyes and apron to the resulting cone.
As you can see in the photo of the penguin's crafts, thanks to the conical shape, it turns out to be stable, therefore it is suitable for an exhibition of children's creativity.
To add volume, the eyes can be made from buttons, and the beak can be glued so that it is directed forward.
From paper and bottle
Unlike the first option, such a penguin craft from a bottle is additionally decorated with paper. The toy should be voluminous and colorful. To assemble the product you will need:
- Plastic bottles;
- Colored paper;
- Glue;
- Scissors.
Procedure:
- Draw yourself or download and print templates of individual parts for a toy bird.
- According to the patterns, cut out the following elements from colored paper: wings, eyes, abdomen, apron, beak and paws.
- Cut 2 plastic bottles roughly in the middle. Further, only wide parts are needed, no necks are needed.
- Insert blanks from bottles one into another. For a more secure hold, you can use glue.
- Wrap the blank with a sheet of black paper.
- Glue the rest of the pre-cut parts.
For decoration, you can add an original fabric hat or bow. In the area of the apron or under the beak of the penguin, you can tie it with decorative tape.
Plasticine application
A great option for children's crafts for the exhibition. A fascinating creative activity for children, since all kids love to do modeling. To create a toy you will need:
- Plasticine or special polymer clay for modeling;
- Plastic knife;
- A plank of wood or plywood as a base;
- Cardboard boxes of various sizes.
Instructions for making a penguin craft from plasticine:
- Make a base from two boxes. The big one will be the body, the small one will be the head. Plasticine adheres very well to boxes.
- Roll a piece of white plasticine into a uniform "pancake". This is an apron breast. The part is glued to the body.
- Make eyes: base - white plasticine, pupils - black.
- Cut a triangular beak from orange or red plasticine. Use a plastic knife to keep the part straight.
- Cut out the legs and glue to the base.
To get a full-fledged applique, you need to make 2-3 more birds of different sizes, and place them together on the board. Thus, you get a full-fledged family of penguins.
From fabric
It is more difficult to make a fabric toy, so this idea will not work for the smallest. Although, together with his mother, the child will probably be interested in creating such a penguin.
A plastic bottle will again be used as the base of the toy.
Before making a penguin craft, you need to prepare the following materials:
- Small bottles;
- Glue;
- Marker;
- Cloth, it is better to use felt;
- Scissors;
- A decorative hat with a pompom (can be knitted or taken from another toy).
Manufacturing procedure:
- Cut off the bottom from one bottle and the neck from the other.
- Glue the edges with glue and insert the blanks one into the other.
- Circle the abdomen with a marker.
- Make blanks for all the elements of the bird's body. For convenience, it is worth drawing or downloading ready-made templates.
- Glue two black felt semicircles to the bottles so that they do not go beyond the contour of the abdomen, but completely cover the body.
- It is best fixed with a glue gun, other adhesives may dissolve the fabric.
- Cut the wings out of black material and also glue them to the workpiece.
- Cut a hat out of the red material and glue it on top of the base.
- Eyes can be made from matching buttons.
On this, the craft is ready. Unlike all previous versions, this toy is not only cute, but also pleasant to the touch due to the softness of the fabric.
For additional decor, the craft can be sprinkled with sparkles. But if you chose not felt, but a different fabric, it is better not to use sequins, they will not hold.
