Very soon a great holiday awaits us - Victory Day. An important attribute of May 9 has long been considered the St. George ribbon, which is used to decorate clothes, hang on cars, and give to relatives and friends for the holiday. The St. George ribbon is one of the symbols of Russian patriotism, which has come down to our days since the reign of Catherine II. We offer to make a ribbon with your own hands, because such an attribute will turn out to be much more sincere than a purchased item.

St. George ribbon in the style of kanzashi
Creative people prefer to fix ribbons in a special way so that they look more impressive. For those who love needlework, it will not be difficult to make a symbol using the kanzashi technique. As a result, you will get a stylish brooch in the shape of a volumetric star.
Necessary materials:
- Ribbon with orange and black stripes 35 mm wide - 60 cm;
- Base for brooches;
- Beads, rhinestones;
- Tweezers;
- Lighter (you can use a regular candle);
- Pin;
- Glue gun;
- Ruler, scissors.
The St.George ribbon is done like this:
- Cut rectangles from the tape. The length of each piece should be 7 cm.
- Use the tweezers to bend the rectangle to make a right angle.
- Then fold again from right to left. The bottom should be flat.
- Fold the structure in half. You should have a petal.
- Burn the bottom edges with a lighter or burning candle.
- To make an asterisk, prepare five of these petals.
On a note! For the brooch to be beautiful, all the petals must be the same shape and size.
- Cut 20 cm from the remaining ribbon, cut a triangle in the middle of each edge. To do this, fold the ribbon in half and cut it off (the angle should be 45 degrees).
- Fold the tape crosswise, glue in the middle.
- Attach the brooch base and pin to the back with a glue gun.
- With a glue gun, glue the petals on the front side so that you get a star or a flower (as anyone sees this brooch).
- Decorate the middle of the brooch with beads or rhinestones of your choice.
On a note! If, instead of the base for the brooch, you glue a chain with a ringlet, you get a symbolic keychain.
Making a brooch with a St.George ribbon
To make a brooch on May 9, you need to be patient, and you will also need a brooch base, a ribbon with stripes, an orange satin ribbon, a piece of black felt, decor, scissors, a lighter, and a glue gun.
Stages of work:
- We described above how to make a flower. In this version, the brooch will need 7-8 orange ribbon petals. Cut a small circle out of black felt, glue the petals with a glue gun to make a flower.
- Place the decoration in the middle of the flower.On the seamy side of the felt mug, attach the base for the brooch with a pin.
- Glue the felt with the flower to the St.George ribbon folded crosswise.
You can make a double petal from ribbons of different colors. The petals come in three colors: blue, red, and white. Instead of a flower, you can assemble a laurel branch by decorating it with a bow and beads. In general, experiment, turn on your imagination and get creative!
St. George paper ribbon for children
It will be interesting for kids in kindergarten to make a paper craft for the great holiday.
How to make a St. George ribbon:
- We take colored paper in orange, black and white.
- Draw strips 1 cm wide on white paper with a ruler.
- We measure out exactly the same stripes on orange and black paper.
- Cut strips out of orange and black paper.
On a note! If the kindergarten students already know how to use scissors, they can cut the strips themselves. If the children are still unfamiliar with carving, the teacher does it.
- On the strips that were drawn on white paper, alternately glue black and orange blanks.
- It remains to cut the ribbon of the desired width and length, and then decorate it with a paper applique (it can be a star, a flower, a drawing on a paper mug).
Children will be able to present such a craft to their grandparents, they will be happy to receive a gif.webpt by May 9 from their little grandchildren.

We offer a master class on how to make a carnation for a ribbon. The carnation will emphasize the grief for the people who died during the war, and at the same time will beautifully decorate the two-color symbol of victory.
Getting started:
- First we make a flower. Cut a long strip from the red fabric, fold it in squares.
- Cut a circle out of cardboard (diameter 4 cm). We apply the template to the folded ribbon, cut out the circles.
- With curly scissors we make a beautiful jagged edge at each circle.
- We fold each circle in four, solder it with matches or a lighter.
- Cut out oval-shaped leaves from a piece of green fabric. We glue them on a round cardboard base.
- We form a flower from the St.George ribbon. To do this, you need to cut rectangles of the same length, fold them in half, scorch the edges with a candle or a lighter. Stick each rectangle on a cardboard base. Attach two longer ribbons with curly ends to it.
- The last step is to assemble the parts into an integral structure. We attach a red carnation to the ribbon flower with a glue gun, on the back side we glue the base for a brooch with a pin.
If you try and do everything carefully, you will get a wonderful decoration for the great holiday.
From simple materials, you can create worthy crafts by May 9, using your imagination. Hand-made ribbons will become a festive decoration and demonstrate that you are not indifferent to the feat of our people during the Great Patriotic War.
