Craft star: instructions for making a star out of paper with your own hands (130 photos with diagrams, templates and drawings)

New Year's decorations create atmosphere, add magic to the setting and make the anticipation of New Year and Christmas more enjoyable.

Instead of buying ready-made Christmas decorations, you should let your imagination run wild and make all the necessary toys yourself. For example, star jewelry. They are quite popular and original.

DIY star craft is an effective and very easy-to-make decoration from inexpensive and affordable materials. No special skills or tools are required, so anyone can do it.

However, for safety reasons, it is necessary that the child does the work under the supervision of a parent. It will be much better if the whole family is involved in this fun process!

Simple paper star

You can decorate a tree, window or room with such an asterisk.

  1. Fold a square piece of paper in half diagonally.
  2. The resulting triangle is folded in half again and the action is repeated.
  3. After that, a pattern of the future star is drawn.
  4. Cut out the pattern with scissors, then unfold the sheet.
  5. If you want to remove the fold lines, you need to iron the jewelry in advance with an iron at a low temperature.

Similarly, you can make a Christmas star craft.

Star made of strips of paper

To make such a New Year's craft paper stars you will need:

  • 4 strips of paper (rather long, about 30 cm);
  • Scissors.

They create such a decoration in a few steps:

  1. Fold every 4 strips in half.
  2. Cut triangles at the ends of the strips (diagonally) so that a point forms at the ends of each of the 4 strips.
  3. Insert one strip into the other at a right angle. This must be done with other strips as well.
  4. Pull the strips inward to form an intertwined square.
  5. Each strip is folded inward, transferring to the opposite side.
  6. Fold each strip back and forth and then down. This will create a cone, which then needs to be threaded through the previously created cube.
  7. The same must be done with the other three stripes. The action is repeated over and over again until the paper strips run out.
  8. Trim the tips that are too long.

3d paper star

All that is needed to make such a voluminous paper star craft is colored paper, scissors and glue.

  1. Two 45x45 cm squares are cut out of paper for one star.
  2. Fold the square in half and fold it tightly along the fold line with a stick.
  3. Then unfold and fold in half on the other side.
  4. Then they do the same steps twice diagonally.
  5. On the inside of the future star, mark on the folds perpendicular to the sides of the 9.5 cm square.
  6. Cut a square along the marked points and fold the wings to the diagonals.
  7. Glue is applied to one of the pair of resulting triangles and the rays of the star are glued together.
  8. After they put both parts on top of each other so that they do not overlap each other, mark the points of intersection of the rays.
  9. Apply a large drop of glue at the intersection points. Now glue the two parts together at the set intersection points.
  10. Set aside the star to dry. After drying, a hole is made in one of the rays and a beautiful ribbon is passed through it.
  11. An interesting paper option will also be the star of Bethlehem.

Star made of wood

Another of the materials for making a star is wood. To create a jewelry, you will need the following materials and tools:

  • Wooden plank 150 cm long, 5 cm wide and 1 cm thick;
  • Ruler or tape measure;
  • Pencil;
  • Protractor;
  • Clamp or teski;
  • Hacksaw or saw;
  • Drill;
  • Drill 8 mm;
  • Sandpaper;
  • Wood glue;
  • LED strip (optional).

Making a star out of wood

  1. On the board, mark 10 sections 14 cm long with a pencil. Place the board sideways and alternately mark the angles of 54 ° and 18 °.
  2. Insert the board into the clamp (edge up). Cut it along the indicated lines. Then they are sanded with sandpaper.
  3. Now you need to drill a hole for the tape in one of the edges of the star. Place the star in the edged boards.
  4. Then the boards are glued with wood glue. The glue should dry well, so it's best to put the star aside for a few hours.
  5. Overall, the star is ready. You can also paint it in the desired color or varnish it.
  6. But you can also make it glow. To do this, stick the LED strip on the inside. Instructions for connecting the cable can be found on the Internet.
  7. The main thing is to observe safety precautions so as not to get an electric shock.

You should also be extremely careful about the quality of the tape - Chinese goods are not of the proper quality, therefore they are fire hazardous. Perhaps the star is better left without an LED.

Wire star

Wire crafts of stars of different sizes, which are suspended on ribbons of different lengths, look very beautiful on the Christmas tree.

You can also make a chain for a Christmas tree or a decorative garland from ready-made small wire stars.

Wire star materials

How to make a wire star craft? To create a New Year and Christmas wire star you will need:

  • Wire (the larger the star, the longer the wire will be needed);
  • Board;
  • Several screws (minimum 10 per star);
  • Screwdriver;
  • Scissors (pliers if the wire is thick enough);
  • Ribbon or lace.

Template making:

  1. On the board, you need to draw a star of the size that the finished wire star should have.
  2. After that, you need to screw the screw into each vertex to a sufficient depth so that it is firmly held in the board, but at the same time its head protrudes at least 1 cm.

Making a star from wire

  1. Now a wire is taken and threaded between the screws so that the contour of the star consists of 2-3 layers of wire. The softer the wire, the more layers the star contour should consist of.
  2. The wire is then pulled across the star in different directions to "fill" the center of the star and stabilize its outline. Connect the ends of the wire by twisting them together. Cut off the remaining wire (with scissors or pliers).
  3. Now comes the final stage. The screws are unscrewed with a screwdriver, the finished star is removed from the board. You can bend the connected ends of the wire so that they do not go beyond the star contour. A tape (or cord) is taken and cut to about 20 cm.
  4. Then the ends of the tape are tied to form a loop. Bring one end of the loop under the wire at one end of the star, then thread the other end through the loop of the tape and tighten. Done!

Larger stars from wires of different thicknesses look very beautiful: a thicker wire forms the outline of a star, and a thinner wire forms its filling. This can be clearly seen in the photo of the star's craft.
