Crafts of airplanes and paper boats in origami style are the first that children meet in kindergarten and primary school. More than one sheet from a school notebook flew through the air on a paper airplane. Pupils are happy to arrange competitions for flight range and duration of stay in the air.
The behavior in the air of a real aircraft and a paper model obeys the laws of physics and depends on the position of the center of gravity. No one tries to determine its exact location for a model from a notebook sheet, but qualitative conclusions can be made by observing the flight.
If the airplane dives down sharply, the center of gravity is located close to the nose; to correct the situation, the length of the model should be reduced.
To make the simplest paper airplane craft using the origami technique, follow the instructions below:
- Take a sheet of paper; dimensions and characteristics do not matter: a notebook sheet, standard office paper or newspaper;
- The sheet is bent along so that a clear line forms in the middle, and unfold;
- The upper corners are folded towards the center, the resulting upper triangular part is also folded down; the fold lines are ironed with your fingers or palm so that the corners do not straighten;
- Once again, fold the upper corners down, but not along the centerline, but retreating from it in the upper part by 1-1.5 cm (there will be the nose of the model); the lower ends should converge at the centerline;
- The protruding small triangle is folded up, fixing the planes; bend the craft in half; wrapping the paper from the edges to the center line, form the wings; straighten the model and it is ready to fly; using a plasticine ball, they fix the model on a stand and take a photo of the craft of an airplane soaring up.
Features and varieties of origami schemes
For a better understanding of how to make an airplane craft, it is useful to watch the video. The child makes not one airplane, but several, from paper sheets of different sizes. An integral and most interesting part of the design is testing, observing the behavior of models in the air.
To shift the center of gravity, small plasticine balls are attached to the nose or tail. The craft is launched using the simplest launcher, consisting of two school rulers set parallel to the horizon at an angle to the horizon with a stretching elastic band.

Simple airplane model
Much more room for imagination and options for aircraft is provided by the use of tools: scissors, glue, drawing accessories.
An original craft airplane with your own hands from paper is obtained by following step-by-step instructions:
- A sheet of paper in a cage is folded in half along the long side;
- On the cells according to the selected scheme, on one side, draw the outline of the future model; the dotted line indicates the fold lines;
- Scissors cut the model along the contour line and get two symmetrical halves; so that they do not diverge, in several places they are fastened with double-sided tape; fold the paper along the indicated dotted lines;
- Separately draw, cut out and fasten with tape the wings of the aircraft;
- The final finishing is carried out: painting, inscriptions; test the model in the air.
Airplane from a plastic bottle
The imagination and imagination of young designers are able to turn almost any object from our everyday environment into a model of an aircraft.
What aircraft crafts are not made of:

Craft aircraft from a bottle has an original appearance, is simply made, does not require expensive consumables. The list of materials and tools is as follows:
- Bottle made of plastic with a narrow neck, volume 0.5-1.5 liters;
- Plastic bottle caps; used for landing gear and propeller;
- Plastic straws; suitable for balloons, cocktails, ballpoint pens;
- Paper: from a student's notebook, office, special multi-colored from a set for children's creativity, from cardboard boxes;
- Scissors or sharp paper cutter, glue, paints, brushes, drawing supplies.
The bottle in a horizontal position is the body of an airplane. The sequence of its transformation into a craft is as follows:
- The wings of the aircraft, the details of the tail unit and the propeller are cut out of thick paper or cardboard;
- Attach the wings from above with glue or in the slots of the bottle; the propeller is attached to the plug, and it is screwed onto the neck;
- The chassis is made from corks and tubes, fastened from below;
- Decorate the finished craft: paint, attach the cockpit, portholes, inscriptions.
Plywood airplane model
Wood is a great craft material, but it takes a lot more effort, patience, skill and tools to work with.
Scissors are not suitable, but a knife with a good blade, a bow saw, an ax, a hammer and chisels, a hand-held power tool are not a complete list of carpentry equipment.
This activity is for older children. Kids can be helpers, carry out individual assignments.
When choosing a material for a craft made of wood, an airplane should pay attention to plywood. It has a number of design advantages: small thickness, margin of safety, low density.
To cut out parts from it, one tool is enough - a hand jigsaw.
The procedure can be as follows:
- Find an outline with dimensions and fittings templates; schemes are available on the Internet, in aviation magazines, in books;
- Make markings on plywood sheets; the markup can be done first on thick paper, then cut out - this will be a template; applying to plywood, you can mark out more of the same parts;
- All parts are cut out with a mechanical jigsaw; the use of an electric jigsaw is undesirable: it chips off the top layer of plywood and cannot cope with small radius curves;
- According to the scheme, the parts are connected into one whole mechanically; the use of glue and other methods of fastening is minimal;
- They decorate the model: paint them in different colors, mark the cockpit, portholes, apply identification marks.
