Craft a church in stages with your own hands: a master class for making a temple at home from matches, bottles and cardboard (140 photos)

This article presents several options for children's church crafts. This can be an assignment from school or kindergarten, or a gif.webpt from a child for a religious holiday.

Such a craft seems very difficult and requires a lot of patience, especially for a child, but by arranging everything on the shelves and decomposing the whole task into small steps, you can significantly simplify the work.

Below are examples of DIY church crafts with illustrations, a plan and materials from which it can be made.

Church made of plastic bottles

First, let's decide on the necessary materials that should be prepared in advance. So, you will need:

  • Several empty plastic bottles, you will need one larger and four smaller ones.
  • The base to which the bottles will be attached.
  • Something hard and resistant to deformation, such as a piece of plywood or a shoebox lid, works well for it.
  • Good glue, in extreme cases - scotch tape.
  • Knife or scissors, see here for convenience.
  • Toothpicks / crosses.
  • White and gold paint and, accordingly, a brush.
  • Plasticine of any color.
  • Some blue paper or cardboard.

After preparation, you can get down to business!

  1. Paint your base white to get started, then you can set it aside and do other steps until it's dry.
  2. Now you can work with the bottles. The largest one needs to be cut just below half, the rest should be made a few centimeters shorter than it. Next, we cut off the neck (the plastic in this place is thicker than in the rest, it is better to help the child: the task will become much easier if the knife is heated).
  3. The next step from the inside is to seal the upper part of the bottle with plasticine and insert matches or toothpicks into it, having previously glued them in the form of a cross. We do this with each bottle and paint them all white, and the upper part, in place of the dome, in gold.
  4. It is important that the paint is tight, dry well and does not shine anywhere!
  5. All parts are now ready to be connected. Place the largest bottle in the center, and place the rest exactly around it, remember to cut the entrance in the front bottle. In order for the bottles to stand tightly and stably, 8 cuts about a centimeter long should be made on the lower part, dividing the circle into equal parts, and cut off four of them.
  6. Then bend the remaining parts inward, spread them with glue and press firmly against the base, holding them until the glue dries. All parts must be positioned as evenly and close to each other as possible, you can even press and glue with neighboring ones.
  7. The last step is left: make the windows. Cut 4 rectangles out of blue paper and glue them to the body.

That's all, the craft can be considered finished!

Cardboard church

Such a craft may seem complicated, as it includes many different shapes, but you can cope with it if you decompose it into simple geometric shapes! There are 2 variants of execution, differing in materials.

In the first, the entire structure is made of white paper, painted with paint in different colors, and in the second, paper of different colors is simply used, so choose the one that suits you.

You will need:

  • Thick white paper and paint brushes / colored cardboard.
  • Glue (and a glue brush if you don't know how to spread it neatly).
  • Scissors or utility knife.

Work plan:

Our church will consist of two cubic parts of different sizes: front and back, as well as a dome.

  1. Prepare a whole sheet for the base, everything else will be glued to it.
  2. Cut and sweep a large cube for the back and glue it to the base.
  3. Similarly, make a small cube for the front, place it exactly in the middle in front of the large one and secure.
  4. Make a small triangular roof over the front using light blue cardboard / white paper.
  5. The most difficult and laborious part has come - the dome, we make it yellow. For such a design, you will need two long strips a couple of centimeters thick: you need to glue them together in the form of a cross, then gently bend them so that intersecting arcs are obtained, and temporarily fix them, choose the size relative to your roof.
  6. There is free space between the arcs; to fill it, cut out four triangles and glue them on the inside. At the final stage, bend the ends of the strips towards each other and glue in the middle to make the bottom, cut off the excess residues. For a lighter version, you can use a cone instead of a dome.
  7. Now there is just a little to finish. Cut out windows and doors and glue them to the main structure, or just draw if you have chosen paints.

Churches made of matches and pasta

Such materials are very difficult for children, and not every adult can cope with them without help, just imagine that you need to make such a structure out of ordinary wooden sticks! Under such circumstances, obviously, the task should be somehow facilitated.

There is a way out that greatly simplifies the work: you can glue an already made paper layout with matches or pasta, but for a successful result it also requires strong perseverance and control on the part of adults.

These crafts have a lot in common in execution, but it will still be useful to look at their differences in order to know what to be ready for.

  • Craft a church from matches: matches are small in length, so you will have to place them one after the other in a large number of rows, cutting off or grinding sulfur heads so that there are no gaps. They are also straight and cannot take rounded shapes, which means that you will have to abandon the domes, replacing them with pyramids.
  • Craft a church from pasta: long spaghetti is better for such a case, they are flexible and easily fit together, well suited for domes, but on straight surfaces you need to be careful to arrange it evenly and evenly.

Any of the crafts presented is not a single option, you can do much better if you show diligence, come up with your own variations and modify them, change and decorate as you like, it all depends on you and your imagination, look at the photos of church crafts and get inspired!
