Craft cat: a photo of beautiful ideas and schemes for assembling a cat from paper, a DIY master class at home

Cats are very cute and fluffy creatures, about which many funny videos have already been filmed on YouTube. It’s impossible not to love these purring beauties, so it’s no surprise that some people love to do DIY cat crafts.

Real masters capture the cat in paintings, sculptures, and other art objects. However, even a child can, if desired, recreate the image of his beloved Vaska or Murka. There are even several options for what and how you can make a cat!

Paper cat

The ancient Chinese art of origami is popular to this day. Its essence is to create real works of art from paper without using glue. The video shows examples of making cat crafts using plain paper.

For beginners and children, it will not be difficult to make a craft of a cat's face out of paper - it is somewhat difficult to make it in full growth, you can get confused. But a cute cat's face can be a decoration for a postcard or just a pleasant surprise for parents.

  1. We take colored paper of any size in a square shape. It is easy to make it from a simple rectangular sheet if you bend it diagonally and cut off the excess strip. Bend the resulting square with the colored side outward to form a triangle.
  2. Fold the resulting triangle in half and unfold it to form a vertical fold line.
  3. Place the triangle in front of you with one vertex at the top. Bend it in such a way as to "connect" the two lower vertices with the upper one - you should get a small diamond. Fold back into a triangle to maintain the fold line.
  4. Bend the "triangles" obtained from the previous step so that both vertices are outside the edges of the main triangle. In appearance, it should look like a tulip, but, in fact, these are the ears of our future kitty. Bend the third, middle, top towards you so as to make the head of the animal. You can even spread a little glue to keep things better.
  5. Flip your workpiece. The cat's muzzle is ready - it remains to decorate it: draw eyes and mouth, glue antennae, etc.

Pine cones

Especially beautiful are the crafts of cats made from cones - such a natural material is very popular in kindergartens and schools in the fall, when kids are asked to make any craft from fir cones, it would be just a fantasy!

You will need:

  • Spruce and pine cones of different sizes,
  • PVA glue,
  • And also long pine needles,
  • A little pink plasticine
  • And two black peppercorns.

Progress:

  1. To begin with, we need a small pine cone, to which we glue two spruce scales - in this way we make ears on the crown of our cat. We use PVA glue for fastening, glue eyes from black peppercorns, and also make a mustache from pine needles. The nose can be made from pink plasticine.
  2. The largest spruce cone should be oblong - this will be the body of the cat. Due to PVA glue, we glue a ready-made head to it.
  3. A cat's tail can be made from a spruce cone, which looks more puffy - let the tail be fluffy at the belly. For better visualization, you can gently peel back the scales so that there is a "fluffy" feeling. We also glue it with PVA glue.
  4. We make the legs from fir cones, about the same size, so that our cat stands steadily on its paws.

Plasticine cat

This photo shows what wonderful cat crafts can be made from plasticine. This material is easy to use, and therefore something is often made of it in labor lessons in elementary school or kindergarten.

For work you will need:

  • Only plasticine of different colors (depending on the color of the cat)
  • And a stack for cutting.

Progress:

  1. We begin to make the cat from the head and body - we roll two balls. Please note that the head should turn out to be round, but the body should be slightly oblong. Putting it together.
  2. The legs and tail will be the same, so you need to roll up five small balls of about the same size. From four we make "sausages", and from the fifth - a tail. Moreover, it should taper towards the end (those that will be attached to the body).
  3. Now you need to attach the legs and tail to the body. The easiest way is if the cat is in a standing position.
  4. To make the ears, you need to roll two small balls - slightly smaller in size than those from which the legs were made. Then we give them a triangular shape and attach them to the cat's head.
  5. The base for the cat is ready. Then you can fantasize with the child - make eyes yellow or blue, stick on the "fur" of the animal multi-colored spots or strips of plasticine of a different color, etc.

Cat paper applique

Applique paintings are no less beautiful - there are several options for them: geometric (details in the form of geometric shapes), torn (pieces of paper are torn off) and others.

Both beginners and advanced students will be able to make a cat's craft in the form of an applique - in fact, everything is easier than it seems at first glance.

Consider the simplest option - a geometric applique, for which we need:

  • Colored cardboard (background),
  • Glue,
  • Scissors and blanks from colored paper in the form of three small circles and two triangles.

Work progress:

  1. Take one of the circles and cut it in half with scissors. We glue half of the circle to the cardboard with the rounded side up. Glue the other half on the side to the left, slightly above the edge - this will be the tail of our kitty.
  2. Then we glue the circle so as to "capture" a little semicircle - this is the body of the cat. We glue the last circle, overlaying it on the upper edge of the circle-body of the cat - this is how we made the head of the cat.
  3. Triangle blanks are cat ears. We glue them on both sides of the head.
  4. In general, the cat's applique is ready. Circles and triangles can be used multi-colored to create the look of a variegated cat. On the muzzle with a felt-tip pen or pen, you need to draw a muzzle, although the eyes can be glued, if there are special stationery blanks - it will look very cool!

Sock cat

For lovers of cutting and sewing, such a voluminous craft of a cat will be an especially pleasant experience. It is quite simple to do, but you need to be very careful.

For kindergarteners, it may be somewhat difficult to implement on their own, but younger students can try their hand at making a new soft toy for themselves!

For such a craft you will need:

  • A pair of clean terry socks (to make the kitten soft and fluffy),
  • Scissors,
  • Cotton wool or synthetic winterizer,
  • Needle and thread to match the socks,
  • Stationery eyes (buttons can be used).

Progress:

  1. Terry socks should be put in front of you with the heels up, and the toes away from you. One heel will serve as a muzzle for a kitten, and the other will serve as a back part.
  2. We take one of the socks, cut off the sock with a crescent moon - later we will sew a tail out of it. Cut the remaining sock vertically, thus making it into a torso with legs. Please note that the front legs should be slightly shorter than the hind legs.
  3. From the second sock we will make a head and a hat for a cat (the latter is optional). Carefully cut off the sock in the form of a triangle, and just cut off the unnecessary on the opposite side. Thus, it turns out that our head has turned out from the middle of the sock, with triangular ears.
  4. Sew up the legs from the seamy side so that the seams remain inside. We leave the holes on the hind and front legs, we will need them to fill the body with cotton wool or a special filler. Similarly, we stitch the ears on the head, making sure that the seams are inside, after which we turn the head and torso inside out and stuff them with padding polyester or cotton wool.
  5. Sew up the muzzle completely, it should turn out to be round. By the same principle, we "close" the holes in the paws, making sure that the kitten turns out to be plump and round. We sew the blank of the tail, after which we sew it and the head to the body. Please note that the kitten's front legs are shorter than the hind legs! Don't be confused.
  6. The cat's muzzle can be decorated by gluing eyes or sewing them with buttons. The nose can also be made from a button or bead, and the mustache from thicker threads.

These cat crafts can be made from different materials - they are simple, but at the same time very beautiful, and even a child can easily make them.
