Vacations for first graders in 2021-2022: first and additional

In 2021-2022, the schedule of classes in secondary schools in Russia has not changed under the influence of the pandemic. But in order to curb the spread of a dangerous virus, adjustments can be made to the usual way in the regions. Also, the Ministry of Education granted autonomy to each individual school.

The management of the educational institution has the right to independently make decisions on extraordinary adjustments to the schedule. But the holidays for first graders in 2021-2022 will be held at the usual time.

Features of the educational process for first graders

First grade students are just beginning their journey in adaptation to a new stage of life and development. Therefore, teachers and the Ministry of Education have developed a special approach to organizing the educational process.

Here are the main features of the first school year of a student:

  • the maximum duration of a school week is 5 days;
  • a shorter working day in the first quarter of training - no more than 3 lessons;
  • the schedule provides for additional holidays for first graders;
  • the duration of one lesson is 35 minutes;
  • the successes and failures of children are not marked by grades;
  • schools have extended day groups, but they are not compulsory;
  • home assignments are issued in minimal volumes or none at all.

This approach allows first graders to quickly adapt to school life. Additionally, standards are being developed that regulate the spending of free time from school.

Vacation at first graders

The academic year for first graders is divided into four academic periods - quarters. After the end of each stage, vacations are laid for all students, regardless of the age of the child.

The terms are common for all, are determined according to the current schedule. The only caveat is that additional vacations are provided for first grade students.

Fall

For first graders in 2021, the first holidays after the start of the school year are scheduled for the period from 25 to 31 October. The first 8-week quarter starts on September 1st and ends on October 25th respectively.

The last working day of this study period is Friday 22 October. There are no holiday-related days off in the first semester.

Winter

The II quarter will include 8 weeks, but there are days off on November 4-7. All residents of Russia will celebrate National Unity Day. Schools with a semester system of study will release first graders for the winter holidays on Monday, December 27, 2021. Children will have to return to their desks on Monday, January 10, 2022.

Additional holidays in February

The third quarter is the longest, this semester includes 10 weeks. It is difficult for first graders to endure such a long study period without vacation, so a short rest is provided for relief. This system of building the learning process will continue in subsequent years, up to grade 5.

Only for primary school students (grades 1-4) additional February days of rest are provided. In February 2022, from 7 to 13, schoolchildren will be able to take a break from classes.

This break is planned for two reasons. It allows you to split the longest period of study into two parts and allow students to recuperate. It is also a necessary measure to reduce the risk of spreading SARS during the peak of the epidemic season.

Spring

After the completion of the third semester, students are also entitled to a week's rest. In 2022, spring break falls between April 18th and 25th. In the spring, children will be able to relax on March 5-8, inclusive, in honor of the celebration of International Women's Day.

Summer

First-graders will be released for summer holidays immediately after the last call, which is scheduled for May 25 (Wednesday).The holidays will last until the beginning of the next academic year - September 1.

Trimester training system

Some general educational institutions practice a trimester system of organizing the educational process. In such schools, the schedule of working days and vacations differs significantly, both for first-graders and older students.

For the 2021-2022 academic year, a schedule has been developed that provides for a week's rest after each individual module. In the trimester system, the academic year is divided into three stages, each of which has two periods (modules).

In the interval between modules, children are supposed to rest. In 2021-2022 holidays for secondary schools with a trimester system of organizing the educational process are planned for the following dates:

  • autumn - October 4-10 and November 15-21;
  • winter - from December 27 to January 9 and February 14-20;
  • spring - April 4-10;
  • summer - from May 25 to September 1.

In the trimester system, children will rest no less. The only difference is that each study period lasts no more than 4-5 weeks. The exception is the first spring module. Its duration is 6 full working weeks, but during this time there are several additional weekends in honor of the celebration of March 8th.

Possible changes

Not a single educational institution can guarantee strict adherence to the developed schedule, therefore the heads of secondary schools have the right to change the schedule. Various unforeseen situations may be the reason for making adjustments.

Despite the autonomy of each OSH, changes should not contradict the basic rules:

  • holidays must start on Monday;
  • breaks during the school year must be at least 1 week long;
  • summer vacation - at least 2 months;
  • holidays can be shifted by 1-2 weeks.

Additionally, changes may occur due to the epidemic situation in certain regions. Decisions are made on an individual basis, taking into account the potential risks to students.

Vacations for first graders in 2021-2022 will be held according to the schedule. But if adjustments are made to the routine, parents will be informed in advance.
