Holidays for students in 2021-2022 will be held according to standard rules, but in each individual university there may be slight differences in the schedule. Unlike schoolchildren, who go on vacation 4 times a year, students will have a rest only twice - in winter and summer. What will be the duration of rest in the 2021-2022 academic year, what will be the changes in universities and what students should prepare for - more on that later.
General rules for student vacations
General rules of procedure in universities are determined by the Ministry of Education. According to the current standards, a training schedule is being developed that is common for all universities. By law, students are entitled to rest twice a year. The shorter the period of study preceding the rest, the shorter the student holidays. Therefore, in winter, students do not have long rest, and in summer they have 2 free months.
Here are the basic principles for setting the duration of rest, prescribed in the regulations of the Ministry of Education of Russia:
- if the period of study lasted up to 12 weeks, students are entitled to 14 days of vacation;
- if the study period lasts up to 39 weeks, students must rest for 3-7 weeks, the duration is calculated individually;
- if students have been practicing for more than 39 weeks, they are entitled to 10 weeks of rest.
The schedule of rest and training is prescribed by the management of the universities. Also, the dean's office has the right to make changes to the schedule if necessary. Each college or university may have different education systems - standard or modular, this is also taken into account when scheduling. Therefore, in order to know exactly the schedule of study and rest for the academic year, the student needs to contact the management of his educational institution.
Winter holidays
Winter holidays for students each year can have a different duration, since weekends are also taken into account. In 2022, the start of recreation for students falls at the time of the end of the winter session. Separately, the day of the beginning of the winter break in training will be approved, after the start of the certification period.
Each university can determine its own terms, taking into account the selected date of the session. If certification is scheduled for December 2021, then students will rest longer. If the session begins after the end of a series of weekends dedicated to the New Year holidays, then students will be able to go on vacation from February 1, and they will return to training in the middle of the month.
Full-time students will rest for 2 weeks in 2022, but in some universities this period may be extended at the initiative of the leadership of the educational institution. When the second semester of study at an institute or university begins - this is also determined by the heads of the educational institution.
The situation is different in institutes, colleges and other educational institutions using a modular education system. The first two modules are from September 1 to December 25. At this time, not only the educational process takes place, but also certification activities. Students of modular universities in 2021 will pass exams and tests until December 25. Accordingly, after the completion of the certification, they will go on vacation. Officially, the students' rest will last from January 1 to January 18.
Most of all students of correspondence courses will have a rest. For them, schedules are drawn up according to different rules. The exact start date of the holidays will be announced at the university during the start of the school year - students will be informed when the management develops a schedule. The principle of scheduling in the correspondence form is characterized by the fact that the educational process is radically different - correspondence students study at any time convenient for them, they need to be at the university only during the session for certification.
Summer rest
After a long second semester, students of all educational institutions in Russia are entitled to a long summer vacation. But before completing the educational process, students need to pass certification, and in the last courses they also need to practice.
The duration of summer vacations for students largely depends on the type of institution and course. According to generally accepted rules, the summer session is in June, so for most students the rest will begin on July 1 and will last 2 months, before the start of the new academic year - until September 1.
For freshmen, summer vacation will begin at the end of June or July 1st. For those who have planned industrial practice, the holidays will begin in mid-late July, after the end of the practical training. In some educational institutions, practice will be postponed to September and will be combined with studies. Students of such universities will have a rest for 2 months - from July to September.
But the above rules are not relevant for all universities. The situation is different with summer vacations in educational institutions with a modular training system. After passing the session in June, students can immediately go on vacation, even if they have academic debt.
Possibility of early holidays
In many universities, students have the opportunity to go on vacation ahead of schedule, but for this they need to pass the session before the scheduled date. This is a convenient option for nonresident students. There is a procedure for early submission of the session.
In order to go on vacation ahead of the established time, the student must apply with the appropriate application. The application is made in free form, but there is a certain requirement - you need to indicate the reason. If the dean's office considers the reason to be valid, the student's request will be granted.
But not all applications for early submission of the session receive a positive response. Early delivery forces the teaching staff to revise the schedule so that all credits can be taken, and this is quite often associated with difficulties in the face of a shortage of personnel.
Additionally, the dean's office can extend the vacation period for up to 3 weeks, as well as increase the number of days off in January. According to the standards of the Ministry of Education, the dean's office has the right to make changes to the schedule of the educational process.
Holidays for students who did not pass the session
Students who did not pass the session do not go on vacation on July 1. For them, training continues until they close all credit arrears. Students studying at universities with a modular system can go on vacation on time, regardless of the presence or absence of "tails".
Student holidays 2021-2022 are subject to slight changes. Corrections are made by the dean's office, the Ministry of Education has endowed the leadership of universities with such powers.
