After the collapse of the USSR, the holiday continues to be celebrated and honored by teachers. In order for this date not to lose the status of a public holiday, the Russian authorities adopt a corresponding decree, and the Teacher's Day remains on October 5. A year later, the title of Honored Teacher of Russia was established. This title is awarded to teachers with at least 15 years of experience, with special merits and achievements.
