You can follow the familiar path and choose traditional professions: lawyer, economist, doctor. Of course, qualified specialists in these areas are needed. But do not forget about new niches that will appear in the near future and which need to be occupied. Who to study for in 2022?
Professions in demand of the past decade: in the world and in Russia
In 2010, the British company Fast Future compiled a list of 20 professions that will emerge in the next 20 years. Here's what it turned out to be:

Five professions from this list are related to medicine, two more are related to farming, and the rest are related to IT. Forbes saw the future a little differently in 2010. Their list of "10 professions of the new decade" includes:

This list covers many more areas: from military to oil production. The forecast is more realistic, and specialists in GR, alternative energy and urbanism, despite some problems, are still relevant both in the world and in modern Russia.
If we talk not about forecasts, but about the specific results of the decade, then in 2020 three areas turned out to be important. Valery Falkov, Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, believes that this is medicine, pedagogy and IT - a list that has already become a traditional one.
At the same time, according to a July poll by the Public Opinion Foundation, more than a third of Russians are looking for work in various fields, and not exclusively in their specialty:

Analysts at the Superjob Research Center evaluated the most in-demand industries in 2020, collected relevant and high-paying deals in December in these industries, and made a forecast for them for 2022.
The pandemic has exacerbated problems in the domestic health care: there is an acute shortage of medical personnel in the labor market, and this applies not only to infectious disease specialists. Programmers and information security specialists were in high demand even before the coronavirus crisis, but now the IT labor market has become the most challenging. E-commerce and e-learning (e-learning) have grown significantly thanks to the pandemic, in the new year they will need people to keep the pace of growth. A tourist boom after the opening of borders is inevitable, now the industry needs not just specialists, but super-professionals who will help reorient the client base to open internal and few external directions, ”the service said.
At the same time, Superjob analysts note that in December of this year, some of the highest paid vacancies are offered in the field of medicine. So, in Moscow, a radiologist can count on a salary of 250 thousand rubles, in Zelenograd, an anesthesiologist-resuscitator who will work in the "red zone" can receive from 200 thousand rubles a month. An oncologist-chemotherapist in Simferopol and an infectious disease doctor in Moscow can count on the same salary.
High salaries are also offered to mobile app developers. In Moscow, an iOS developer can receive from 210 to 260 thousand rubles, in Samara, a candidate for such a position can count on 120-140 thousand rubles. In addition, high-paying jobs are offered in the fields of information security, digital marketing and tourism.
In-demand jobs in 2022
In turn, analysts of the HeadHunter job search platform noted that while the current situation on the Russian labor market persists, including in conditions of uncertainty due to the pandemic and restrictive measures to contain it, at the beginning of 2022 the demand for professions in such areas as sales, manufacturing and construction, as well as transport, logistics and medicine, will remain high.
"It is worth highlighting the IT sphere, in which the demand remains high and the staff deficit persists over the past few years," Maria Ignatova, head of the research service of the online platform hh.ru, told TASS.
According to the expert, labor shortages remain in the capitals and other large cities of the country due to the reduction in the inflow of both internal and external labor migrants. Ignatova emphasized that local labor resources cannot fill such a deficit, therefore, the demand for a number of professions will remain in early 2022.
It is also necessary to take into account the continuing pressure on the health care system and the launch of a mass vaccination campaign, which will ensure the demand for professions in medicine and pharmaceuticals.
According to the hh.ru service "Data Bank of Wages", employers indicated the period for revising the level of wages mainly in January-February 2022. The median revision is 5 thousand rubles. At the same time, 49% of companies will do this by decision of the management, 34.6% must index salaries once a year, and 18% will not revise them. Analysts also noted that the rate of change in wages in 2020 compared to 2019 decreased by an average of 3%.
Salary growth
According to the Superjob service, many companies this year were forced to revise their personnel cost policy, however, salary growth continued, although not at the same pace as last year. Over the past year, 38% of employers have raised their staff salaries, another 21% plan to increase or index in the near future. Significant growth of salaries in medicine is forecasted for the next year.
“The medical staff strives to work only in large cities - in institutions provided with means of protection and diagnostics. However, even in megacities, there are not enough doctors, nurses and orderlies. Both the state and private clinics are reviewing the systems of remuneration and motivation of primary care staff.In 2020, the average market salary offers for higher and middle medical personnel increased by 15-18%, in 2022 Superjob predicts a further increase in salary offers at the level of 12-15%, ”the specialists emphasized.
