Used car tires do not necessarily end up in a landfill; they are often found in the most unexpected places. Plasticity and ease of cutting made crafts from such recyclable materials a popular material for decoration and folk art.
Moreover, in the photo of crafts from tires, you can see all the variety of sizes for automobile, tractor, bicycle and other options.
Garden swing made of tires
A garden swing is great fun for children and adults. Swing designs are different, from those on which the smallest member of the family can swing independently, to devices that require a certain amount of physical training in order to provide the necessary amplitude.
For the smallest, they are cut and connected together in the form of seahorses, ladybirds, and covered with soft materials.
Step-by-step master class for making a swing
The old tire we are going to use as swing material should be in good condition.
Of course, the degree of tread wear does not really matter here, but the tire should not be damaged, cracked or abraded.
It is important that the weight of the rocking person is well supported and that the attachments are strong. Size is also important - the bigger the tire, the better.

Before proceeding with the installation work, you must carefully inspect the tire and check if it is damaged. If ok, rinse thoroughly with detergent to remove grease or fuel residues.
- Tire swinging can be done in two ways - by hanging the tire vertically or horizontally. If you hang the tire horizontally, you get a structure similar to a traditional swing with benches or chairs. On the other hand, a vertically installed tire is a more difficult task - it makes it possible not only to swing, but also to perform acrobatic stunts, and train the vestibular apparatus.
- Swings where the tire is suspended vertically is a real paradise for toddlers, but they must be safe. We will fasten it with a thick rope. We tie the rope to both the tire and the tree branch with a knot. It should not be tied "in a knot", as this kind of knot is easy to untie. You can use the mooring site. It is used in sailing for mooring on a pole and a ring, does not slip or pull, the rope does not rub. The tire should hang at least 30 centimeters above the ground.
- The horizontal swing is best hung on a suitable frame. We attach special handles to the upper beam. Attach the chain to the bar using the appropriate holders with caps. Three or four mounts can be used. This swing can also be suspended from a rope.
- The swing can be hung on a tree branch or on a specially made frame. If hung from a tree, the knot should not be too thin so as not to break. You should also consider the species of trees. You cannot hang the swing too low. To fasten the swing, you can use a strong rope (it can be a polypropylene rope, eight or ten) or a chain, then we attach special holders to the tire.
The vertically hanging bar can be drilled in several places in the lower part to prevent water from collecting in it. Tire swings, especially horizontal ones, look very interesting when painted in different colors.

Flowerpots from tires
Tire pots are perhaps the most popular type of recycling and DIY tire crafts.Thanks to an interesting cut, coloring or other processing, you can achieve an effect that pleases the eye of both a child and an adult.
Tire pots can, for example, take the shape of a flower or a swan, and they also look great when cut and painted like frogs. All you have to do is cut and color properly, then simply sprinkle with soil and plant your favorite plant.
Such flowerpots can be made in the form of cups by placing a large tire on a small one and attaching a handle from a bicycle tire. Garden tire crafts can be changed regularly, creating a new ambiance every summer season.
Artificial reservoirs
Small lakes created with the help of heavy truck tires also look interesting. Sometimes you will not even guess that the tire is inside, since the edges are lined with fragments of tiles or decorative stone.
Often, such a landscape design is decorated with rubber ducks, frogs and other themed elements. So that the water does not go away, a plastic or concrete bottom is arranged under the tire.
Furniture and decor from tires to the house
Poufs, armchairs made of tires will perfectly fit into the interior of the cottage. Thoroughly cleaned, covered with silicone sealant and covered with a cloth, they turn out to be quite functional and comfortable things. In this case, the cover is made removable so that it is convenient to wash it as needed.

In most cases, a pouf will require:
- Large tires;
- Plywood;
- Hard padding padding polyester or foam rubber with a thickness of at least 5 cm;
- Foam rubber 2 cm thick for the circumference of the tire;
- Aerosol upholstery adhesive;
- Stapler and staples for upholstery;
- Wooden legs 4 pcs;
- Locking bolts 4 pcs.
After washing and drying the tire, we measure its diameter, along which the plywood base and cover were then cut out. Cut out two circles of different diameters from plywood. For cutting, we need a jigsaw or a hand saw for wood. Cut out two circles and grind the edges of the circles with sandpaper.
The larger plywood made in this way is the bottom of the pouf, and the smaller one is the lid. Try on the bottom of the pouf against the tire and check how it lies, if everything is cut correctly.

We also put a cover on the tire and check if it is too small. Glue the cover to the 5 cm thick foam upholstery. To do this, spray the foam with aerosol glue and plywood. We collect the parts and put them under the load so that it grasps well with the glue.
Using 2 cm thick foam for upholstery, cut the strip across the width of our tire so that it overlaps the sides of the tire and the circumference of the tire.
We fasten the non-woven material with an upholstery stapler, put on a pre-sewn cover and voila, you can use it.
