How we rest on February 23, 2022: weekends and working days

How are we resting on February 23, 2022? Defender of the Fatherland Day is traditionally considered the main men's holiday. On this day, they congratulate not only those who are related to service in the security forces, but also boys, youths, students and representatives of different professions.

How will the country rest in February 2022? The answer to this question will help to find out the norms of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation and the experience of past years.

How to relax on February 23, 2022

Holidays and weekends are planned in advance - the work calendar for the next year is drawn up at the end of the outgoing one. Defender of the Fatherland Day in our country appeared in 1993, when the date of February 23 received the status of a public holiday, becoming on a par with the New Year, Victory Day, May 1 and National Unity Day.

For a long time, February 23 was just a holiday that was celebrated with colleagues, that is, it was a completely ordinary working day, but held in a solemn atmosphere. And only in 2002, after making the appropriate amendments to the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, on February 23 it received the status of a day off.

It is impossible to say exactly how we will rest in February 2022, since the labor calendar will be formed only at the end of 2021. But one thing is known:

  • February 23rd will be a day off.
  • February 22 is a working day, in many organizations it is reduced by 1 hour.

If the holiday falls in the middle of the working week, then labor collectives may decide to postpone working days in order to optimize the work process. In 2022, February 23 falls on Wednesday, thereby breaking the working week in half, which creates certain inconveniences. It is not yet known exactly how the work schedule will be planned, but it is likely that there will be 1 or 2 working Saturdays in February to compensate for the long weekend.

Weekends with a 6-day work week

If the team works five days a week, then the working Saturday is a completely logical decision, when due to the holiday the workers get extra days off. What should those who work 6 days a week do? As the experience of previous years shows, the transfer of working days and days off does not apply to teams that work 6 days a week.

February 23 is a public holiday, but there are organizations that cannot close on weekends. In particular, schools and educational institutions that work 6 days a week will remain within a stable schedule, that is, schoolchildren and students will come to classes as they did before.

Half-holiday

Most organizations reduce the working day by 1 hour on the eve of a particular holiday - this rule is also spelled out in the Labor Code of the Russian Federation. But labor standards apply differently to five-day and six-day work schedules:

  • 5-day stay. If February 23 falls on Monday, that is, the last working day preceding the holiday is Friday, then the length of the working day is not reduced.
  • 6-day stay. Since February 23rd falls on Wednesday in 2022, employees can leave their workplaces 1 hour earlier on Tuesday February 22nd.

Of course, everything depends on the specifics of the activities of a particular organization. It is understood that doctors, bakers, pharmacists or employees of other socially important organizations will work as usual.

Is it possible to cancel the weekend

On a large scale, yes - for one reason or another, an employee may be called to work on a weekend. The Labor Code clearly states the circumstances under which an employee can be involved in the performance of his immediate duties:

  • industrial accidents;
  • natural disasters;
  • threat of damage or loss of state property or property of the employer;
  • the threat of an industrial accident or natural disaster.

Those employees who regularly serve, regardless of the calendar, receive additional allowances and bonuses for work on holidays. Knowing how we rest on February 23, 2022, you can plan your vacation in advance or organize a family outing outside the city.
