Day of the Navy (Navy) in 2022: what date

Military events, combat arms of the modern Russian army are celebrations of the strength and courage of our army, historical justice, as well as peace and clear skies of the citizens of our country. One of the most significant celebrations of this kind is Navy Day 2022, the meaning and historical value of which is much deeper than it might seem to uninitiated people. We will talk about how old the Navy is, who influenced their development and what are the traditions of celebration.

History

It is believed that the history of the Russian military fleet began under Peter the Great, although in fact our ancestors walked the seas with military purposes a thousand years ago - suffice it to recall the campaign of Prince Oleg of Kiev against Constantinople, the then capital of the world. However, the military fleet acquired its own holiday only in Soviet times - in 1939, on June 22, the corresponding decree of the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR was issued.

On the last Sunday in July, the holiday was postponed already in 1980 by the Decree of the Presidium of the USSR Armed Forces. And the final status of this day was established by President Putin in 2006, who issued a decree of the corresponding content on May 31.

Traditions

It can be said without any exaggeration that the whole country celebrates the Day of the Navy:

  • In the home ports, ship parades are held, with a solemn raising of the ship's Andreevsky flags and flags of color, and various performances on naval themes.
  • Sports and military competitions of sailors are carried out on a massive scale. St. Petersburg, Kronstadt, Vladivostok, and now Sevastopol are especially different in this part;
  • The personnel of the fleet are congratulated by commanders of all ranks, up to the Supreme Commander-in-Chief - the President of the Russian Federation.
  • Traditionally, it is on the last Sunday of July that officers, foremen and sailors are awarded the next ranks, awarded with state awards, insignia, gif.webpts and certificates.

And at home all those who had to go ashore on a holiday are waiting for festive tables and joyful faces of relatives and friends, ready to stormily congratulate the "culprit" on the solemn date.

Do not forget, dear readers, if you live in a seaside city with a naval base, or at least the coastal part of the Navy is based in your settlement, come to congratulate the glorious sailors on their professional holiday.

What is the day of the Navy in Russia in 2022

To find out what date the main ship parade will take place in Russia, you will have to open the calendar, because according to Federal Law No. 549 of 31.05.06 "On the establishment of professional holidays and memorable days in the RF Armed Forces", the event has no specific date - it is assigned to the last Sunday of July. So in 2022 this date will be July 31.

It is also worth noting that, despite its national significance, the holiday does not have its own day off, which means that Monday after it is not a day off. The event did not always have such a floating date, the initial day of the Navy was June 24, but later, in order to mobilize more human resources to participate in the celebrations, it was timed to coincide with the day off.

Soviet history of the fleet and the origin of the event

Although the revolution in Russia was successful, it was a collapse for the fleet and the armed forces associated with the sea. With the transfer of the capital from St. Petersburg to Moscow, the sea in the minds of the new rulers became further, and its problems were lost against the background of other political and state troubles. This situation led to the fact that by 1921 the Russian imperial fleet, which came under the command of the Red Army, was destroyed by 85%. At the same time, the northern coast guard simply disappeared, and in the Baltic and Black Seas it was reduced by three times.

This could not continue for a long time, so the Soviet state made a number of decisions, many of which led to success in World War II:

  • 1924 - as part of the Red Army in Moscow, a naval department was created, which was closed on the then People's Commissar for Military Affairs (a modern analogue of the Minister of Defense) L. Trotsky.
  • 1925 - for the first time at the official level, the insolvency of both the fleet and the industrial complex was recognized to perform at least some tasks at sea. The consequence of this decision was the introduction of the first five-year development plans.
  • 1929 - the first submarine of the USSR was designed and laid down.
  • 1930 - the institute of military shipbuilding was established and created, marking the emergence of a new separate branch of the military industry, enshrined at the documentary and scientific level.
  • 1931 - the creation of design bureaus in Moscow, western Siberia and St. Petersburg raised the profession of a shipbuilding engineer to an unprecedented level for Russia.
  • 1939 - Establishment of the Navy Day, initiated by Admiral N. Kuznetsov.

IMPORTANT! “The fact is that 1939 was extremely significant for the USSR, because it was during this period that the imperial ambitions of the Union, reinforced by an alliance with Nazi Germany, pushed the leaders to mobilize the population. One of the steps of such voluntary mobilization was the holiday of the Navy, scheduled for July 24 "

The further history of the event practically did not bring anything new to it. In 1980, along with other events, the day of the Navy received a floating date fixed on the last Sunday of July, the same date was confirmed by the consolidation of the event in 1988 and 2006.

Modern Navy in Russia

A candidate for a position in the navy must have not only outstanding health, but also outstanding intellectual abilities. This is not surprising, because the state assigns a number of responsibilities to the modern, technically complex and unbridled Russian fleet:

  1. Restraining the enemy from attempts at aggression;
  2. Protection of sovereignty in the event of aggression;
  3. Ensuring the safety of economic activities at sea;
  4. Provision, support and implementation of tasks related to work on the territory of other states.

The composition of the Navy

Despite the fact that the historical "capital" of the fleet is located in Kronstadt, its modern centers are scattered throughout the country:

  • Kaliningrad - the center of the Baltic Fleet;
  • Severomorsk - hosted the Northern Fleet;
  • Astrakhan - home of the Caspian flotilla;
  • Sevastopol - the city of deployment of the Black Sea Fleet;
  • Vladivostok is a city of legend that keeps the peace of Russia on its eastern borders with the help of the Pacific Fleet.

Traditions of the event

It is worth noting that the scenario practically does not change from year to year. While children in kindergartens make postcards, and officials on TV screens voice congratulations to servicemen of the Navy, many of us miss a real holiday, which each of us should see at least once. The most widespread events are held in port cities, which are the deployment centers for domestic fleets. At the same time, the main holiday takes place in Kronstadt, which still guards the sea approaches to St. Petersburg. The schedule of this event is the quintessence of the domestic traditions of the navy:

  1. The beginning of the holiday is the service at the Naval Cathedral of Kronstadt;
  2. Laying flowers at the monument to the founder of the Russian fleet - Peter I;
  3. The main part of the celebration takes place in Petrovskaya harbor, where from the mouth of the Neva, ships go out to the parade, which then in their ceremonial movement move to the island of Kronstadt;
  4. The event ends with sports events and concerts.

IMPORTANT! "Navy Day is the largest and most significant military festival in Russia, which still remains the center of media propaganda of service in the Russian army."
