Will the USE and the USE be canceled in 2022: the latest news

Will the USE be canceled in 2022? Not. Will the OGE be canceled? Also not, but some changes will occur both there and there. Let's look at everything in order.

Will the USE be canceled in 2022

Although a bill was introduced to the State Duma with a proposal to return to the determination of the average score based on the marks in the graduate's certificate, the Unified State Exam (like the OGE) will not be canceled in 2022.

Rumors about the cancellation arose against the backdrop of Sergey Komkov's statement that this certification format is "heading towards decline." As an argument, the figure cited the argument that the number of compulsory subjects is constantly decreasing, and universities are conducting additional tests. Yes, this is so, but the head of the All-Russian Education Foundation did not take into account that this is associated with changes against the backdrop of the 2020-2021 pandemic.

Neither the Ministry of Education nor Rosobrnadzor confirmed the rumors about the disappearance of the USE as a standard for testing the knowledge and skills of graduates of general education organizations. It is not even discussed. Although, from time to time, discussions surface on the advantages and disadvantages of the Unified State Exam. Let’s and we will sort it out.

Interesting! The first USE was held in 2001. The idea of a new format for testing knowledge belongs to Vladimir Filippov.

Advantages and disadvantages of the USE system

Advantages of the current knowledge testing system:

  1. Versatility: the same requirements, regardless of the specific educational organization or city, region.
  2. Impartiality of the inspection commission and exclusion of corruption opportunities. Teachers check the work of students from other schools, the principle of anonymity is preserved.
  3. The universality of the conditions for admission to universities and the impartiality of the commission. The passing score is common to all. Each graduate who has successfully passed the exam can apply for a budget place.
  4. A more thorough examination of the knowledge, skills and abilities of graduates, including the ability to assess the quality of education in a specific region and in a specific educational organization.

Disadvantages of the exam:

  1. High requirements for the knowledge of graduates. The USE materials are based on the program of specialized study of subjects, and not at the level of general education programs.
  2. Unequal training conditions. On the one hand, the structure and content of the Unified State Exam becomes known long before the exam. On the other hand, the level of professionalism of teachers and the capabilities of individual schools differ, especially when it comes to distance learning. In addition, many students and parents note that school hours are not enough to pass the exam well - you have to hire tutors. This requires a lot of financial and moral costs. And again, let's return to the problem of inequality: not all parents have the opportunity to hire a tutor for their child to help them master the profile level of training required to successfully pass the exam.
  3. Systematic changes. For several years now, there have been talks about canceling the exam, but this is not happening. But almost every year, changes are made to the examination work itself or to the conditions for the examination. Teachers and students have to keep track of this and quickly adapt to change.
  4. Increased loads. There are cases when high school students lost consciousness on the exam or they felt bad just before the exam. This is associated with stress and overwork. Previously, when exams were conducted with tickets, the students did not experience such stress, and the teachers did not try to "train" them for universal tasks, to solve as many tasks of the same type with the students as possible.

Note! Even if a student passes the USE by 100 points, this does not guarantee that he will enter the desired university, since other graduates can gain more additional points for participating in olympiads, contests, and competitions.This feature can also be attributed to the disadvantages of the exam.

Pandemic situation in 2021

Due to restrictions against the background of the coronavirus pandemic, changes have also occurred in the exam:

  • graduates who do not plan to enter a university may limit themselves to passing the usual state final exam;
  • the writing of the final essay was postponed from December to April;
  • the basic exam in mathematics was excluded, only the exam in the Russian language remained mandatory;
  • pupils of the 9th grade pass two compulsory exams (Russian and mathematics), the OGE by choice is replaced by a test in the same subject.

In 2020, they left one wave of passing the exam (the stage of early passing was excluded), but in 2021 the regime looks different:

  • from May 31 to July 2 - the main wave;
  • from 12 to 17 July - an additional wave.

The GVE for students who just need a certificate (do not plan to enter a university) will be held at the end of May. You need to pass two compulsory exams (write a test): Russian (May 24) and Mathematics (May 28).

Interesting! Changes in the format for passing the exam in 2020 increased the number of graduates with a gold medal by 30%.

Possible changes in the format of the exam in 2022

Earlier (even before the pandemic), the Government and the Ministry of Education considered the option of transferring the exam to a remote location, the possibility of fully computerizing the exam, expanding the total number of subjects to be taken and introducing additional compulsory exams (history of Russia and English).

In 2022, revisions from 2021 are canceled:

  • there will be two waves of passing the exam again;
  • the math exam returns.

According to the latest news, there is a discussion on the introduction of practical problems in all (or almost all) exams. Experts from FIPI believe that it is precisely this block that graduates lack in order to maximize their knowledge and skills. But this innovation will be appropriate only if it is possible to create equal opportunities for practical work in all schools.

As for the passing of the Unified State Exam by those graduates who do not plan to enter the university, so far everything is not so simple. It is possible that this innovation of 2021, which arose against the background of the coronavirus pandemic, will spread to 2022, and, perhaps, to subsequent years.

Important! If an eleventh grader refuses to take the USE, and then changes his mind, then he can pass the USE along with the graduates of the new years in subsequent years.

In addition, experts are discussing the need for and the possibility of introducing another compulsory exam - the English language or the history of Russia. Moreover, control materials in English will be differentiated into basic and specialized levels.

It is also known that KIMs will undergo new changes, but there is still little specifics. They say that control materials will become more complicated (10-15% of tasks in new jobs are outside the scope of the school curriculum). From this we can conclude that the number of steel bearings will decrease.

Complication of tasks for the Unified State Exam

Examples of new CMMs will appear in September 2021. Little is known yet.

Changes in the Unified State Exam 2022 on the example of the most frequently passed disciplines:

Thing What will change What does this mean
Russian language 3 tasks for the analysis of the test have appeared, two tasks for punctuation have disappeared Tasks have become more complex and voluminous, and the time of the exam and the school curriculum have not changed - students will have to prepare even harder
Mathematics Instead of three simple tasks in the first part of the work, three complex tasks on the theory of probability, functions and complex numbers appeared In the first part, there are no easy tasks left, it will be much more difficult to get the minimum score
Social science The essay is excluded, but instead the planning tasks are complicated (more arguments and examples are needed). In some tasks with multiple choice of answers, you will need to add your own answer (detailed answer) The difficulty of the exam and the likelihood of overcoming the minimum threshold will not change much.For those who have had difficulty writing essays, these innovations, on the contrary, will be a breath of fresh air.

Educators believe that such changes will lead to a decrease in the average grade in some subjects. For example, in Russian they predict a decrease of 5-6 points, in mathematics - by 8 points.

The question of whether the USE will be canceled in 2022 is closed (not canceled), but this does not mean that it will not arise again. This topic is raised and discussed almost every year. And all the latest news about changes in the exam are published on the FIPI website.
