The duty of every man is to pay back his debt to the Motherland, having served in the army. However, in order to do this, a young man must meet all the requirements and criteria, including being a certain age category. Therefore, it is worth talking in more detail about the age of conscription of soldiers into the army.
From how many years are they taken for military service in the army?
According to the legislation of the Russian Federation, the draft age begins with the age of majority of a young person, that is, from the age of 18. Before the onset of this age, they do not have the right to call a young man. Only those young people who are in the military register or who are in the reserve (having a delay for one reason or another) are allowed to be drafted into the army.
The duration of military service is 12 months. The conscription for military service in the army is carried out at the age of 18 and ends at the age of 27. After receiving a summons to the army, a young man must at the appointed time appear at the military registration and enlistment office to undergo a medical commission and establish his suitability or unfitness for service.
But, there are some reasons why a citizen can receive a reprieve from service, or be recognized as completely unfit for it. These include:
- The presence of one of the diseases that are included in the list of the document "Schedule of diseases". Their presence may become the basis for assigning a non-conscription category, or a category that gives a delay for some time;
- Boys who turn 18 in school are eligible for a grace period for admission to higher education. If not enrolled, the failed student will immediately be called up by the military registration and enlistment office to serve in the army;
- Full-time students are eligible for a deferral for the entire period of study, but if they are expelled, they will be called up for service.
Sometimes conscripts turn to lawyers if there is a violation of their rights regarding the draft age. There are times when a young man received a summons before the age of 18 or after he turned 27. It is worth knowing that after the age of 27, a citizen is sent to the reserve of troops and they have no right to be called up for military service. In such cases, the young person should seek help from competent lawyers for assistance in resolving all disputes with the military registration and enlistment office.
Up to how old can they be drafted into the army
Initiatives have been taken on several occasions to raise the conscription age, but to date they have not been approved. After the term of service in the army was reduced to 12 months, the number of draft dodgers became much less, and therefore the issue of extending the draft age has lost its relevance.
Now the age of conscription of citizens into the army in Russia ends with a threshold of 27 years. But it should be borne in mind that if the summons to a young person comes a week before the onset of 27 years, then the citizen will be sent for compulsory military service. A young man is considered non-conscription on the day of the onset of 27 years, but not earlier than that.
Contract service in the army
For contract service, soldiers are taken who pass for health reasons, it will also be a plus if they have a military education. The service takes place only on the personal initiative of the citizen. The possible age for the conclusion of the first contract is from 18 to 40 years.
Initially, the contract is concluded for a period of three years, after the expiration of which it can be extended for 5 or more years.
With the onset of 45 years of age, a soldier is transferred to the reserve, but in the event of general mobilization, he can be called up to war. He can also be called up for training.When comes the maximum mobilization age for conscription of a citizen for military service in Russia will depend on the rank and gender of the person. In addition, servicemen are sent on a full rest if the service took place in difficult and extreme conditions.
The selection of candidates for contract service is based on the following criteria:
- A complete secondary education or graduation from a technical educational institution is required;
- It is necessary to pass a medical commission with the award of a category of fitness A or B;
- You need to have good physical fitness and successfully pass all the standards;
- Have no outstanding criminal record;
- A good level of professional aptitude is also required.
Calling citizens in reserve
All citizens who are in the reserve of the Armed Forces must periodically improve their qualifications and appear for military training. Full removal from military registration of men occurs at the age of 50-65 years (depending on the rank), and women in the range of 45 to 50 years.
Those exempted from military duties can be:
- Women not liable for military service;
- People living outside the Russian Federation;
- Teachers and other employees of educational institutions;
- Persons who have three or more children in their care;
- Those who have completed an alternative service;
- Students of educational institutions of various forms.
Call in case of war
The age of conscription of citizens in reserve for military service in the Russian Federation in the event of the outbreak of war is from 18 to 50 years. For mobilization, the military are divided into categories according to their age: the first is from 18 to 35 years old, the second is from 35 to 40 years old, and the third is from 45 to 50 years old.
In the event of a war, the first category will be conscripted first, then the second, and so on as necessary in the recruitment of troops.
As for the officers, the age limit for conscription will be:
- For junior officers - 55 years old;
- For senior officers - 60 years old;
- The age limit for mobilization of senior officers is 65 years.
According to the legislation of the Russian Federation, first of all, not ordinary citizens are called up for service, but people with military training who are in the reserve of troops. And so that they do not lose their skills, they are obliged to periodically go through military training sessions, the duration of which is two months.
After 65 years, citizens are not subject to mobilization in the event of a threat of war.
Can the draft age in the Russian Federation be increased?
To date, all information about the change in this age, namely the increase in the draft age, is false, since it contradicts the law. If a young guy is already 27 years old, then he will no longer be called up.
Vladimir Putin announced that there are no plans to raise the draft age for military service in 2022. Remember that it is possible to make any changes to the legislation of the Russian Federation if there are grounds for this and they should be formalized in the form of amendments. At the moment, no amendments have been made to the draft age law, therefore, in 2022, an increase in the draft age can not be expected.
Thus, all attempts to recruit young people under the age of 18, or over the age of 27, will be considered illegal. But when it becomes necessary to attract a conscript before he reaches the age of 27, then he, like everyone else, is subject to this on the usual legal grounds.
The age range from 18 to 27 years old is established in accordance with the physical data and skills of young people at this age, in accordance with the ability to overcome on their own at a young age all the dangers and difficulties of military service.
At the moment, in Russia, in accordance with the legislation, the period during which a young man must serve his homeland is one year.
The grounds on which a conscript can receive a deferral from service
Whatever the age of a citizen's conscription into military service, there are certain legislative reasons why he can receive a deferral from service:
- Health status - an injury or illness;
- The need to maintain constant care for a sick relative;
- Guardianship of a sibling or sister;
- The presence of two or more children in the family;
- The presence of a disabled child at the age of 3 years;
- Full-time education at a higher educational institution;
- The presence of a pregnant wife with a second child who is at least 22 weeks old;
- Taking part in direct elections.
Thus, the age of conscription of young people into the army in Russia in 2022 is from 18 to 27 years old, and its increase is not expected in the near future. Service in the army is an honorable duty of every citizen who loves his country and is ready at any time to defend it from the attack of enemy forces. But if a conscript has health problems or other compelling reasons for not being in the military ranks, then he can count on a deferral from service or complete release.
