Electrometallurgical complex in Vyksa
The project for the construction of a future plant in the Nizhny Novgorod region (Vyksa) is being implemented by the Ecolant project company, affiliated with the United Metallurgical Company (OMK JSC). In the fall of 2020, a cooperation agreement was signed with the Italian company Danieli for the supply of equipment for future production with a total value of € 400 million. This project is a pilot for the Russian metallurgy. It provides solutions that reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 70% compared to converter steelmaking.
The new complex will produce a wide range of steel products for wheel rolling and pipe production. The steel produced will have three main casting formats: round billets, wheel billets, and thick slabs. The products will be shipped to the enterprises of the United Metallurgical Company and other consumers. The new plant will provide 2,000 additional jobs.
