Structure of the 2021-2022 academic year
It should be noted that the first call in the 2021-2022 academic year falls on September 1 (Wednesday)
In the first trimester, studies will begin on September 1, and will last until October 1 and 2 (with a five-day and six-day period, respectively). Holidays will start on October 4th and end on October 10th for the children to go to school on October 11th. Then, until November 12 and 13, schoolchildren study, going on vacation from November 15 to 21.
The second trimester starts on November 22, and until December 24-25, children will receive knowledge, after which the New Year's holidays in 2022 will begin, which will end on January 9. For study, schools will open on January 10, the next holidays start from February 14 to 20 for first graders and students in correction classes. The spring period of rest is from April 4 to April 10, after which the children go to school in anticipation of the summer holidays.
Trimester system
The 2021-2022 academic year will be somewhat different for schoolchildren who study in trimesters, because their schools will not announce vacations every 4-5 weeks of study.

Autumn
The first trimester will consist of two modules. Autumn holidays 2021-2022 at the school with a modular system will also be held 2 times:
- from 4 to 10 October;
- from 15 to 21 November
Traditionally, vacation periods are arranged in the trimester calendar every 5 weeks.
It is worth considering that when leaving for the first vacation, schoolchildren will not complete the trimester, which means that after 7 days of rest it will be important for them not to forget everything that was studied in the month of September, since the final sections covering all the material are held at the end trimester.
Winter
Regardless of the educational system, the New Year's school holidays for the 2021-2022 academic year will take place from 12/27/21 to 01/09/22. Since in all regions of Russia from January 1 to January 9 there are non-working holidays, the January holidays in different schools also coincide.
The second winter vacation in 2021-2022 will be held at a school with a trimester education system from 14 to 20 February.
Spring
The 1st study module of the 3rd semester will be longer than the previous ones and will be 6 weeks. But schoolchildren will not have time to get tired, because it is during this period that there are two big holidays - February 23 and March 8, which will give the children additional periods of rest.
The final 5th school holidays of the 2021-2022 academic year (spring) will take place from 4 to 10 April. Although the 2nd module of the 3rd semester will also consist of 6 weeks, 2 of them will also be incomplete (only 4 days each). These are the first weeks of May, when Labor Day and Victory Day will be celebrated in Russia.
Summer vacation and practice
The 2021-2022 academic year will end in all schools in Russia on May 25, traditionally, after which most students will be able to relax and fully enjoy their summer holidays.
Studies will not end on May 25 only for graduates of the 9th and 11th grades, who in the last days of May and throughout June have yet to take the OGE and the Unified State Exam.
Often, schoolchildren and parents also ask whether teachers have the right to require school attendance during the summer holidays. For example, in many lyceums and gymnasiums, practice takes place in June, which creates certain problems for families who have planned a vacation at the beginning of the summer due to the corresponding vacation schedule with their parents.
Can I refuse to practice?
It all depends on what kind of practice is planned at the school. If this is a classic "working off" with a broom and a rake - it should be exclusively voluntary, like duty. If the practice is part of the curriculum (this can often be found in specialized schools and lyceums), then it is impossible not to attend it, since the result of the students' work is assessed and recorded in journals, affecting the resulting score.
It is also worth considering that all school circles and sections continue their work during all vacation periods (with the exception of New Years and Summer), but attending these lessons is optional.

Possible timing adjustments
Quarter boundaries very often force schools to transform work schedules and schedules, which is less common with trimester divisions. Therefore, the dates shown above will remain approximate and subject to change. Naturally, there remains the risk of closing the educational institution in 2021-2022 for quarantine, or stopping the study process for other reasons. But the shift in terms is not allowed for more than 2 weeks.
A new trend in the educational sphere is the trimester system, which was previously alien to Russians. But trying to establish an individual framework, the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation relies on overseas experience, and as a result, they issue a domestic product.
School holidays 2021-2022: rules and regulations
Despite the general provisions on vacations enshrined in the law, each educational institution has the right to have the final say. Vacation issues are always resolved with the participation of the school administration, but based on the decree of the Ministry of Education. In order to correctly distribute the periods of work and rest for students, it is necessary to be guided by key norms.
General rules
Regardless of the form of ownership and the system by which an educational institution operates, the administration must adhere to a number of basic norms when drawing up a work schedule.
The basic rules common to all schools, gymnasiums and lyceums are:
- any school holidays must start on Monday, and 2021-2022 will be no exception;
- the duration of the rest period cannot be less than 7 days (including weekends);
- all holidays of the school year (except summer) must provide students with at least 30 days of rest;
- in summer, schoolchildren must rest for at least 2 months (practices or exams may be scheduled in June);
- The postponement of dates is allowed for no more than 2 weeks (in either direction from the dates originally set in the school schedule) with mandatory notification of all participants in the educational process (teachers, children, parents).
Important! Schools are endowed with a certain autonomy in the organization of the educational process, therefore, in different educational institutions of Russia, vacations for schoolchildren in 2021-2022 may begin on different dates.
How is the vacation schedule formed? The vacation schedule for each academic year is developed by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, but it is rather advisory in nature. The agency reserves the right of the final decision in accordance with Articles 28 and 34 of Federal Law No. 273-FZ "On Education in the Russian Federation" to general education institutions - it is they who, on the eve of the academic year, by internal acts approve the exact vacation period for the academic year, naturally based on the recommended framework rather than your own preferences and convenience. The terms and length of time for study and rest are determined by the school administrations independently, but subject to a number of conditions: the duration of vacations cannot be less than 7 days, and summer vacations cannot be less than two months;
- it is unacceptable to shift the vacation period by more than two weeks;
- the number of days of rest during the school year in its total should not be less than 30 (excluding summer rest);
- holidays must start on Monday.
During the academic year, the administrations of educational institutions have the right to make minor adjustments during the vacation period. For this, a special commission is assembled, which, in addition to the teaching staff of the school, includes representatives of parental committees. Specialists from education departments operating under city, district or regional education departments can also take part in them. Changes are allowed, for example, in cases where schools are forced to unplanned suspension of educational activities due to severe frosts or exacerbation of the epidemiological situation.
